Technology
Due to major problems with technology (namely that my four and a half year old laptop decided to not function) I haven't been able to post anything in the past few weeks. I finally did replace my laptop and have, for the most part, gotten it set up (Windows 8.1 has been an interesting experience; not only have I had to load a lot of things onto my new laptop that I didn't think I was going to need to but I'm now working on taking off what it came with that I can't see myself ever using). Over the next few weeks I'm going to work on getting what I've been planning on posting posted. In the meantime, here are two medium format photographs. A mix of old and new technology, I shot them on film with a Holga camera and then scanned the negatives and edited them in Photoshop.

Cupcakes & Matches
This is another large format project that I had to do for my class. The assignment was to compose photos where the matches were 1:1 with the matches in the photos (basically, you should have been able to lay the actual match on the match in the photograph and have them be the same size).

Large Format Photography- Fake Flowers
Now that I've got some major stuff that had to get done finished (basically replacing my car), I can do this longer-than-usual post about this project that I did in college. One of the photography classes that was offered was a large format course. That was one of those things that seemed very daunting, but ended up being a lot of fun (it made me want to get a large format camera). The photos are from the final project that I did for that class (I have other photos from that class that I will post another time). What I ended up doing for that class was setting up simple still life arrangements with fake flowers, photographing them, hand-processing the film, and then taking the negatives and scanning them into the computer. Once scanned, I did very minimal editing in Photoshop (adding a warm tone to each one) and then I printed them out of translucent 8x10 vellum paper, and then laying those prints over a warm-toned basic 8x10 drawing paper (I'll post pictures of that set up another time). I had intentions of making them into a book but I ran out of time and ended up just leaving them as individual prints (I may bind them together at some point; I'm not sure about it though).

Snow Day (Actually, more of an Ice Day)
So, due to the weather today, I didn't have to go work in the afternoon. This left me plenty of time to catch up on some things I've been trying to get around to.
One thing I've been meaning to do is to try making homemade Nutella. I found a recipe online which also had a link to instructions on how to boil the hazelnuts to make them easier to peel. I wish I remembered to take a picture of the color that water turned from that because it was a gorgeous red-violet. I'm going to have to see about dyeing instructions using the water from the hazelnuts because I would love to see if I could dye something that color.
Since I got some things done this afternoon, hopefully I'll have more time this weekend to work on a few more projects. In the meantime, here's a miscellaneous black and white digital photo that I did during one of my classes in college:
